I’m Bruce Balensiefer, a composer, audio producer, and media tech professional in Seattle, WA.

I have cultivated a niche skill set combining my passions for creating in two realms: software engineering and music recording, metadata, and distribution. With a bachelors degree from the University of Miami Frost School of Music in Music Engineering with a double major in Computer Science, a Scrum Master Certification, and experience at software houses in a content and development management capacity, I am a potent generalist in the areas of music tech and media production in general.

“The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct.”

- Carl Jung

I discovered my creative impulse in my teens and took up bass guitar lessons and jamming with friends, ultimately enrolling at UM. It wasn’t always music for me, though. My childhood as a military brat and boy scout taught me the importance of honesty, integrity, exacting standards, and being mission-driven- and I bring these qualities with me to the workplace to help artists and teams create amazing experiences.

After receiving my degree I spent about a decade doing development management at Fortune 500 software companies including Technical PM for the platform and tools team at a streaming media company and Operations Manager at a blockchain/crypto startup. Then in 2018 my partner and I started DisinterMedia, a podcast production and sonic branding service for emerging tech startups and podcasters from the blockchain and indie gaming scene. We produced some podcast series and provided UX sound and audio branding for tech startups. For the past few years I’ve been working with a small team to develop an unannounced software product for the music business.

I’m currently most excited about launching my startup, producing music for myself and clients, providing custom music and sound for indie video games, and developing great products in the media tech space. Side interests include paddle-boarding, martial arts, video games, and music-rich multimedia experiences.
