Jon Guirguis

Designer, gardener, carpenter, homebrewer and overall man of too many hobbies (according to my lovely wife).

It took several years and a few jobs that had nothing to do with my college major, but I finally discovered my passion. I love to create! Whether it’s a beautiful and intuitive website, an oak table, or a hop-tastic batch of beer, one of my greatest pleasures in life is pouring my creativity into something and taking pride in the impact the resulting product has on people. Seeing that really keeps me going and my obsessive side is always convincing me that I can do it even better the next time. Please take a look below to see the different companies and industries I’ve impacted and some of the skills I’ve picked up along the way.

Email Marketing

Email marketing is near and dear to my heart. After all, in terms of conversion rates, email still far outpaces even the most popular social media platforms, so it was no surprise that email marketing took the lion’s share of my attention at The Pip Guys. Through the years I built up our subscriber base, in our very niche market, to over 3,000 and crafted over 100 campaigns. Along the way I was able to hone in on things that worked and things that didn’t thanks to my constant tinkering with everything from A/B split tests to button placement.

This chart shows the open and click rates I was able to maintain vs the industry average (report data obtained from Mailchimp).

Presentations

While at Rutgers University Foundation I’ve had the great privilege of working on several high profile presentations for the Foundation President, Director of Talent Management, and the Vice President of Strategic Advancement Solutions. They have in turn presented them to the broader Foundation, The Association of Fundraising Professionals, The Association of Hospital Philanthropists, as well as School Deans and Chancellors. Through my discovery and use of the Prezi platform, I’ve also helped to popularize the use of a new and dynamic presentation platform across RUF. Please click below to view a few examples.

Analytics & SEO

The importance of SEO in driving organic search from search engines cannot be overstated. I have 5 years of experience using Google Analytics and building website pages and crafting content with SEO best practices in mind. Through those efforts, The Pipe Guys has climbed the ranks in many key industry search terms, going from being completely off the radar to ranking as the first result or within the top 5.

Website Design

Website design… something I truly never thought I would grow to love, but necessity is the mother of invention (or in my case, the mother of DIY). Building the Pipe Guys from the ground up meant my business partner and I had to do everything ourselves and that included giving our business a sleek, beautiful and intuitive website. Throughout the years our website has garnered much praise from clients and even competition… even to the point of noticing some “borrowed” ideas on our competitor’s websites. I’ve also had the opportunity to do a freelance website design project for a licensed health coach.
