Circulated the book from our public library. Thoroughly enjoyed the read. Grueling pace of work. Long hours. Extreme attention to detail. Service above self. Kudos to Mr. Emery for not slinging the mud. If you want a first-hand account of the inner non-political workings of our White House then this is the book for you.

Accurate down to the last detail

In addition to being a riveting mystery, this novel gives a great peek into the inner workings of the Executive Residence. As another former staff member, I was impressed that this book captures the smallest details that only an insider could provide.

Great understanding of how the White House works behind the scenes

Outstanding book! Chris provides amazing insight on the people that work behind the scenes to ensure that all White House functions go off without an issues. He also provides wonderful stories of the First Family’s that he served under. He also provides a better understanding of the role of a WH Usher. Great read!

An excellent page turner written by a very knowledgeable, hands-on Washington insider.

I loved the book and plan on re-reading it before his next mystery is published in the near future. Mr. Emery has a great knack for keeping the reader engaged because he has experienced the life of a Washington professional and is a truly excellent and captivating writer!

Brings Our Presidents to Life

I have read other books by White House ushers, but Emery’s book practically walks you through a president’s personal day minute by minute. You feel as if you are walking right alongside, learning about the real human being.

A very interesting and highly entertaining book about life in the White House

Chris Emery has written a superb book about his life while a White House usher for 8 years. Full of unique stories and anecdotes about the presidents he served, many celebrities and world leaders, and many of his experiences as an usher, his book is both entertaining and fascinating while being totally nonpolitical and never negative. It is a unique view of daily operations in the White House from scheduling everything from meetings to state dinners to walks with the presidents around the grounds and personal glimpses into their lives.

Chris has written with humor and empathy, making each person very understandably human with the White House itself becoming revered and loved. I feel tremendous appreciation for this incredible glimpse into a place and staff to very highly respect and always remember.

A fictional tale but extensive knowledge of life in the White House make this a riveting read.
